Grad Programs Climb Atop the Rankings

U.S. News & World Report has ranked three NC State graduate programs among the best in the nation.

#NCStateCS Software Engineering Program Shines in Latest U.S. News Rankings

#NCStateCS’s undergraduate program in Software Engineering now ranks #11 in the nation, up from #17 in 2025, in the 2026 U.S. News and World Report Best Colleges Rankings.

Dr. Gregg Rothermel to Retire as Department Head

How NC State’s Department of Computer Science Ranks Among the Best: By the Numbers

Rankings from CSRankings, a metrics-based ranking of top computer science institutions around the world, consistently place CS as a leader among US institutions. From 2014 to 2024, the department ranked 36th in overall publications.

NC State Shines in US News Rankings

NC State continued to rise on the 2025 Best Colleges list, achieving its best finish ever among the nation’s top public universities at 26th overall. The university also earned high marks for academic value, undergraduate programs and veterans’ services.
