Kamala Subramaniam, Engineering Leader

Kamala Subramaniam is currently an Engineering Leader in Google Cloud Networking and believes in creating an ecosystem between academia, industry, and the local community. Prior to this role, Kamala has served in a variety of key leadership roles at Google, driving innovation, scalability, efficiency, and reliability of all of Google’s networks - Data Center Networks, B4 private datacenter networks, B2 internet facing WAN, and the Cloud Network. Kamala is also the Diversity & Inclusion leader for Google Networking, and Founder of WiNS (Women in Networking Summit).
Prior to Google, Kamala was a Principal Strategic Architect at Microsoft Azure where she worked on Switch Abstraction Interface (SAI) and the first open sourced data center switch Software for Open Networking in the Cloud (SONiC).
Kamala is a proud alumna of NC State University, where she received an MS in Computer Networking and Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In her spare time, she is an accomplished theater actor, loves riding horses and running marathons.
