Andrew Porter, Executive Director, Enterprise Technology Architecture
Andy joined Merck in 2007 and has been focused on enterprise architecture for more than 16 years of his 30 year IT Career. Currently, he leads Enterprise Technology Architecture for Merck. In this role, Andy is accountable for leading a team of senior technology professionals to establish a broad range enterprise standards, patterns and principles that form the basis for Merck’s Information Technology eco-system. As an Executive Director, Andy is accountable to link business value directly to technology investments as well as drive out redundant capability to optimize Mercks investment in IT.
Previously, Andy led Systems and Technical architect for the IT Risk Management & Security organization where he partnered closely with senior leaders to provide architectural guidance, oversight, and leadership to their most critical initiatives.
Andy holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Penn State University. He currently resides in Wake Forest, North Carolina with his family. Andy has established a strong working collaboration with North Carolina State University’s computer science and engineering department which encourages diversity and inclusion in the field of technology, as well as openly collaborates on IT challenges faced in within Industry.
