“Leadership in Technology” Executive Speakers Series Continues at NC State
Three visionary business leaders will share keys to succeeding in a high-tech world when they speak at North Carolina State University during the spring semester. The Department of Computer Science at NC State is hosting the speakers as part of the Fidelity Investments “Leadership in Technology” Executive Speakers Series. The series, which is free and open to the public, began during the Fall 2007 semester as part of the department’s 40th Year Celebration. more
Departmental Research Grants, Gifts, and Support
Dr. Christopher Healey, associate professor of computer science, is the recent recipient of a 2007 IBM Faculty Award valued at $20,000. more
Dr. Laurie Williams, associate professor of computer science, and Dr. Michael Devetsikiotis, professor of electrical and computer engineering, were recently awarded one of five IBM Jazz Faculty Grants valued at $25,000. more
Fujitsu Transaction Solutions has donated $5,000 to the department in support of the Sr. Design Center.
Alumnus, Robert Eason (BS CSC & Math ‘72) has contributed $500, and Strategic Advisory Board chair and department friend, Wayne Clark, has contributed $600 to the 40th Year Scholarship Endowment Campaign. Contributions to date total over $12,000 toward the goal of establishing the new endowment. Anyone wishing to support the campaign should contact Ken Tate.

40th Year Technical Symposium Talks Available via Streamed Video
If you missed the 40th Year Technical Symposium, the capstone celebratory event held last October to commemorate the department’s 40th anniversary, you can now view the Opening Remarks and the keynote speakers’ presentations via streamed video through links on the 40th Year Technical Symposium page. Keynote speakers included Dr. Dorothy Strickland, Dr. Larry Hodges, Dr. Al Aho, and Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer.
Port City Java Opens in EB2!
The long-awaited Port City Java is now open for business in EB2!!! Located on the 1st floor of the East Wing, near the CSC atrium, the PCJ carries a wide selection of premium coffees, fresh baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, salads, sandwiches, handmade shakes, freezes and much more. Hours of operation for the EB2 PCJ are Mon - Thur: 7:30am - 7pm, and Fri: 7:30am - 5pm.
Fidelity Investments “Leadership in Technology” Series Presents Bob Young
Please join us on Feb. 26th at 6 pm in Lecture Hall 1231 EBII for the second of three spring talks in the Fidelity Investments “Leadership in Technology” Executive Speakers Series. Our special guest speaker will be Bob Young, CEO & Founder of Lulu.com, a true technology entrepreneur and open-source visionary with four successful multi-million dollar start-up companies on his resume.
