CSC Faculty Promotions & Reappointments Announced
The Department of Computer Science at NC State University is pleased to announce the following faculty promotions and reappointments, effective August 16, 2013:
Dr. Rudra Dutta is promoted to Full Professor. He received his Ph.D. from NC State University in 2001. His research interests include algorithms and theory of computation, networking and performance evaluation. For more information on Dr. Dutta, click here.
Dr. Christopher Healey is promoted to Full Professor. He received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada in 1996. His research interests include graphics and human computer interaction, computer and video games, information and knowledge management, scientific and high performance computing, and analytics. Dr. Nagiza Samatova is promoted to Full Professor. She received her Ph.D. from the Computational Center of Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, Russia in 1993. Her research interests include algorithms and theory of computation, information and knowledge management, parallel and distributed systems, scientific and high performance computing, and analytics. Dr. Xiaohui (Helen) Gu is promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2004. Her research interests are computer systems with a current focus on automatic system management using machine learning methods, large-scale data stream processing systems, service overlay networks, peer-to-peer systems, and mobile wireless systems. Dr. Emerson Murphy-Hill is reappointed for a second term as Assistant Professor. He received his Ph.D. from Portland State University in 2009. Dr. David Roberts is reappointed for a second term as Assistant Professor. He received his Ph.D. from Georgia Tech in 2010. His research interests include artificial intelligence and intelligent agents, advanced learning technologies, graphics and human computer interaction, computer and video games, and analytics.
