Faculty Additions Announced
The NC State University Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Nagiza Samatova and Kemafor Anyanwu to our faculty this fall.
Samatova joins the department as an Associate Professor. She holds a Ph.D. from the Computing Center of Russian Academy of Sciences (CCAS), and is currently working as a Senior Research Scientist in the Computational Biology Institute of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Her research interests are in Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, Scalable Data Analytics, Data Management and Data Integration, Graph Theory & Algorithms, Natural Language Processing, and Data and Text Mining. She has one patent, 34 journal, and 43 conference publications. Since 2000, Samatova has been PI or Co-Pi on nearly $27 million in research funding.
Anyanwu will join the department as an Assistant Professor after receiving her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia this summer. Her research interests are in Semantic Web, Databases and Bioinformatics. Her research results have been published in the prestigious World-Wide Web conference in 2003, 2005, and 2007, as well as in other venues.
