Faculty Promotions Announced

The Department of Computer Science at NC State University is pleased to announce the following faculty promotions, effective July 1, 2007.


 Dr. Matthias Stallmann is promoted to Full Professor. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado in 1982. His research interests include Algorithm Design and Analysis for Serial and Parallel Models of Computation, Experimental Analysis of Algorithms, Algorithm Implementation and Engineering, Combinatorial Optimization, Graph Algorithms, and Algorithms for Design Automation. He is currently the co-director of the Collaborative Benchmarking and Experimental Algorithmics Laboratory (CBEAL).


 Dr. Rudra Dutta is promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science at NC State University in 2001. His research interests include Traffic Grooming and Fault Tolerance, Performance and Management of Optical Networks, as well as Ad-hoc Wireless Networking. He has worked for IBM and currently serves on a number of professional and academic boards and commissions.

 
 Dr. Vincent Freeh has been promoted to Associate Professor with tenure. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1996. His research interests include Operating Systems, Compilers, and Programming Languages, especially Distributed and Parallel Computing and Embedded Systems. A one-time combat engineer for the U.S. Army, he has also worked for IBM and taught at the University of Notre Dame.
