The STARS Come Out for Special Event
The STARS came out last week for public display in a special celebration event in the east atrium of EBII. No, these are not night stars or Hollywood stars; these STARS represent the Students and Technology in Academics, Research, and Service initiative.
Motivated by a decline of enrollment in computer science and related disciplines, STARS is a multi-institutional student organization dedicated to broadening participation in computing.
During the December 6th poster session, students displayed the results of a semesters' work in community outreach, undergraduate research, and mentoring. Representatives were on hand from STARS corporate sponsors Tekelec, EMC, Network Appliance and SAS Institute.
