Ma Receives ORNL Research Award
Dr. Xiaosong Ma, assistant professor of computer science, has been awarded a summer subcontract from Oak Ridge National Laboratories - UT-Battelle LLC valued at $ 11,660 to support her proposal titled “ORNL Subcontract to CS/NCSU: Transparent Data Recovery For Parallel File Systems (II).”The award will run from June 2, 2008 to August 30, 2008.
Abstract - Dr. Xiaosong Ma and her students will attack the problem of transparent data recovery to improve the reliability of large parallel file systems. With this proposed technique, job input data will be automatically staged into a supercomputer, while a modified system to perform just-in-time patching to make sure the staged data are available when the corresponding job is scheduled.
