Abstract: In this talk Max will present a summary of his journey as a software engineer and scientist through the tech industry since completing graduate school in 2005. He has seen the rise of web APIs and services, cloud computing, social computing, blockchain, quantum computing, and now artificial intelligence. He will try to connect the dots in hindsight and extrapolate a bit into the future. He will also present a new open source framework for AI agents called Bee.
Short Bio: E. Michael Maximilien (Max or Dr. Max) is a distinguished engineer at IBM Research. After completing his Ph.D. in computer science at NC State University in 2005, Max joined the IBM Almaden Research Center working on a variety of projects ranging from semantic web, web services, cloud computing, and social computing; always trying to contribute and advanced the latest in computing, Max stays intensely curious and ready to jump into the next adventure. Max resides in San Jose, CA where he is a passionate cyclist and photographer.
