Sherard Griffin

Bio
Sherard Griffin has over 20 years of experience architecting and developing large-scale enterprise data and AI solutions. He currently leads the development of OpenShift AI at Red Hat, an enterprise open-source Gen AI and MLOps platform that simplifies the creation and deployment of AI applications. He also oversees Open Data Hub, a community-driven project for building AI-as-a-service platforms. Outside of Red Hat, Sherard serves as a strategic advisor and technologist focused on democratizing AI across hybrid cloud ecosystems, with a strong emphasis on open-source innovation and scalable infrastructure.
In addition to his technical leadership, Sherard sits on the Board of Directors and co-leads Griot and Grits, a nonprofit open-source initiative that uses AI to preserve oral histories through digital storytelling. He is a passionate advocate for broadening participation in technology, mentoring emerging technologists, and promoting inclusive workforce development across the AI and open-source communities. His work reflects a holistic vision of technology as both a tool for innovation and a platform for empowerment.
Sherard earned his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from North Carolina State University. He lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his family and enjoys spending time at the beach and traveling the world.
