Bio

David Sturgill is an associate teaching professor in the Department of Computer Science at NC State University. He coordinates CSC 230 (C and Software Tools) and CSC 246 (Operating Systems) and serves as coach of the department’s competitive programming teams, which meet on Monday evenings during the semester and are open to all interested students.

Sturgill joined NC State in 2011 after faculty roles at Baylor University and UNC Greensboro. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. in computer science from Cornell University and a B.S. in computer science and mathematics from the University of South Carolina. His professional experience includes time at NCR Corporation and a visiting developer role at BioWare.

For spring 2025, Sturgill’s office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., both in person in Engineering Building II, Room 2294, and online via MyDigitalHand. Students can find more details on the Office Hours page of their course site.
